Because of the digital nature of eBooks, one can add features to eBooks which can’t be added to print books. Imagine a science textbook where you can watch a video of somebody dissecting a frog or doing a chemical experiment. Or a travel book with an interactive map that can show you where you are. Or an academic work with hyperlinks to resource materials. Or a novel that comes with “bonus features” such as alternate endings, footnotes, and an audio interview with the author. All these and more are not only possible, but already being done, and called enriched eBooks.
