Google Street View launches in South Africa

Google Street View launched it's services in South Africa today, making available photographic views of most popular streets within the major metropolitan areas.

 

 

 

Just in time for the 2010 soccer world cup, it is no coincidence that Google has released this functionality today.

Visit Google Maps, search your address, and then drag the orange icon above the zoom bar onto your street.

A 3D interface with photographic views of your street will appear on screen.

YouTube South Africa goes live

Today, video-sharing website YouTube launched their South African YouTube service (http://www.youtube.co.za).

According to Google, “YouTube South Africa makes it even faster and easier for local users to find and view the videos most relevant to them, by tuning search and discovery algorithms such as featured videos and homepage and category spotlights.

Adobe gets a word in on Flash

Apple's release of the iPad without Flash left a lingering question regarding the future of Flash. Will Flash share the same fate as Microsoft Silverlight and Java, which also doesn't run on the iPhone or iPad? Some argue that HTML5 is the future of the web, but even if that might be the case, that future is probably still a few years away.
