It's no joke! It was announced on the blog 'Inside Google Books' that books and magazines are now available in 3D. Check Treasure Island as an example.
It appears that Google now enables users to read all ther scanned books in 3D. This is made possible by adding a small extension to the URL: &edge=3d. However you will need to get yourself the magical and oh-so-fashionable green and red glasses to fully enjoy the 3D version of your favorite books.
The funny thing is that it also works with magazines. check the example of Life:
